Governor supports Murmansk City Council
Governor of Murmansk Oblast supports the members of the Murmansk City Council in their initiative to dismiss Mayor Sergey Subbotin. He thinks that also the Head of the Murmansk City Council should resign, in order to level the situation.
A group of 11 council deputies on Monday raised the initiative on the mayor’s dismissal, as BarentsObserver.com reported.
- I have now considered all arguments from the City Council and come to the conclusion that I support their initiative, Governor Dmitriyenko says to TV21.ru. He adds that although both the Mayor and the City Council are elected by the people, he thinks Subbotin should leave his post since the majority of the council members have considered Subbotin’s work unsatisfactory.
Dmitriyenko says that conflicts seldom have only one guilty part, and that both the Mayor and Head of the Murmansk City Council Aleksey Veller therefore should leave their posts, in order to “calm the people”.
