Governor: This is an attempt to disgrace our region
Murmansk Governor Yury Yevdokimov in an interview indicates that the recent negative campaign against him in federal TV has been initiated by political opponents in the region.
In an interview with the regional Blitz TV Channel, Governor Yevdokimov maintains that his region is developing positively and that the recent negative campaign against him is based on fault facts. At the same time, he says that the negative information has disgraced Murmansk Oblast for the world.
-This is a quiet, normal region, self-confident about its future. The ones who know our region, know that this [negative information] is not the truth, he says.
-Here you find hospitality and friendliness among people. We have had no conflicts between the ethnic groups, and we have been proud of this. We have built this over many years, and now this is being destroyed from the inside. This is not the fault of the First Channel, not journalists are to blame. This is the work of the people from whom one can expect nothing else, the governor says.
The United Russia party faction in the State Duma on 13 February requested the Accounts Chamber to conduct an inspection Murmansk Oblast. The parliament reaction came after Governor Yevdokimov with highly negative words described the ongoing election campaign in the region.
