Governors summoned to Kreml
Heads of 15 Russian regions where the ruling party United Russia did poorly in the recent elections to parliament, have been summoned for an immediate meeting in Kreml.
Among the governors are Dmitry Dmitriyenko from Murmansk and Ilya Mikhalchuk from Arkhangelsk. In both these regions United Russia did poorly compared to the results in the last elections in 2007. In Arkhangelsk Oblast the party got 31.9%, down from 56.7% in 2007. In Murmansk Oblast, United Russia got 32%, down from 55% four years ago.

Both President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have said that election results showing a lower share to United Russia than the average for Russia, is a sign from society that the people are not pleased with the regional powers.
According to B-port the governors will not meet with the president himself, but with his deputy head of administration, Vladislav Surkov. – This means there will be no TV-cameras, no theatrical gestures, only tough talk, the web site reads.
