Green drilling in Barents Sea

Norwegian energy major StatoilHydro will face the strictest possible Norwegian environmental regulations when it starts up drilling at the “Ververis” field this spring.

According to the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT) the drilling permission is categorized in the green and yellow group, which means that the operation will be without effects on the environment in the area.

The Ververis field is located 194 km north of the North Cape. The operation, which will take place with the “Polar Pioneer” rig will last almost 60 days starting from 1 May, a press release from the SFT reports.
