Higher salaries in Murmansk
In April this year, the average monthly wages in Murmansk Oblast totalled 22,200 RUB (607 EUR). The sum is up 28,5 percent year-on-year from 2007.
According to figures from the Murmanstat statistics office, the salaries increased 3,4 percent only from March to April this year.
The highest salaries in the region are found among people working in the mining and metallurgy industry, fisheries, electricity generation and distribution, finances, as well as the transport sector.
It is expected that Murmansk salaries will continue to increased strongly in the years to come, following several major industrial projects in the region. As previously reported by BarentsObserver, regional governor Yuri Yevdokimov believes salaries by 2015 might increase to 60,000 RUB
