Icebreaker for Varandey terminal
A brand new multi-purpose icebreaker was delivered to LUKoil on Tuesday to ensure continuous year-round export of oil from the Varandey oil terminal in the Barents Sea.
The icebreaker will be on continuous watch at the Varandey terminal, to ensure safe ice conditions during the loading of oil tankers. The eastern part of the Barents Sea is ice-covered from late autumn to early summer.
The value of the icebreaker building contract is USD 102 million, writes LUKoil in a press-release. The oil shipped out from Varandey terminal comes from the northern part of Timano-Pechora oil fields.
