International Shtokman school

An international school for children whose parents are working on the Shtokman project will be opened in Murmansk, says Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko.

Murmansk will learn from the Norwegian oil capital of Stavanger when it comes to creating good living conditions for foreign workers involved in large oil development projects in the region.

– Our task now is to build housings for these people and open an international school, Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko says in a press release on the regional government’s web site. – This is what the authorities in Stavanger did when the developments on the Norwegian shelf started, he adds.

Murmansk already has some experience in housing an international school. In 2008 the first Norwegian-Russian class opened at a school in Murmansk, with 15 Norwegian and Russian students following the Norwegian study plan.

Governor Dmitriyenko believes that also Russian parents will be sending their children to the new international school.
