Kemijärvi pulp mill closed
Most of Stora Enso employees at the pulp mill in Kemijärvi in Finnish Lapland will be left without jobs. The last pulp was conveyed from the production line on Sunday and the company wants to start dismantling the machinery and equipment as soon as possible.
Protesters in Kemijärvi have imposed a blockade against the dismantling of the machinery until the government has handled a application made by the City of Kemijärvi. The aim of the city’s administrators is to bring in another company that manufactures pulp out of wood to continue the work of the mill, writes Helsingin Sanomat.
