Large delegation from Troms County visits St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG: A delegation of around 160 people from the Northern Norwegian county of Troms is visiting St. Petersburg these days.

The delegation consists of representatives from the county administration, business, culture, research institutions, travel industry and the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra.

The main event during the visit is a concert by the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra in the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. This is the first time a Norwegian orchestra will be playing in the famous concert hall. All the 1100 tickets to Friday’s concert are sold out.

During the two days long visit there will also be held several meetings between Troms County Governor and high-ranking officials in St. Petersburg, as well as seminars on tourism in Norway and business opportunities for Norwegian companies in the so-called Northern Capital.

The Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra was established in June 2009 and consists of musicians from the Bodø Sinfonietta, Tromsø Chamber Orchestra and the Armed Force’s orchestra Divisjonsmusikken Harstad.

BarentsObserver will bring reports from the events in St. Petersburg.
