Medvedev to be in charge of foreign policy
Foreign policy is the purview of the president, Dmitrii Medvedev underlined in a press conference yesterday, thus rebuffing speculations that Putin might continue to manage the country’s foreign relations.
At the same time, however, Mr. Medvedev said that his foreign policy will be based on the line of his predecessor and upcoming prime minister Vladimir Putin. -I believe we should lead an independent foreign policy, the kind that has been followed for the past eight years, whose main priority is the defense of Russian interests on all fronts, by all possible means, Medvedev said, the Moscow Times reports.
