Medvedev wants more Russians online

A third of Russia’s citizens will soon have access to the Internet, Dmitrii Medvedev, said at a conference last week.

Medvedev also said the state needs to have a liberal policy towards the World Wide Web and to enrich services and products offered to Russians online, said at the 12th Internet Forum, Russia Today reports The new Russian president also said that he approved of popular social networking websites and opposes a total ban on access to them at schools. Internet portals and search engines are fighting over the number two spot in Russia. While Yandex is the leader, surveys disagree on who is in second place - Mail.ru, Rambler, or Google.
