More money for Russian defence
Russia will in 2009 spent 47.9 billion USD on its armed forces, Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov said last week. The sum is up 2.76 billion USD from 2008.
National defense orders will rise to 1.2 trillion RUB (47.9 billion USD) in 2009, 70 billion RUB higher than previously planned, Ivanov said in televised remarks, the Moscow Times reports with reference to Bloomberg and Reuters. -We have managed to convince the Finance Ministry that the volume of state defense orders in 2009 will be 70 billion RUB higher than previously planned, Ivanov told Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
