More oil from Nenets Autonomous Okrug
Production of oil and gas in the extremely resources wealthy region increased nearly ten percent in January 2010 compared to January 2009.
Production of oil and gas condensate increased with 9.4 percent in January 2010 compared to the same period in 2010, web site Oilru.com writes. In total, 1.6 million tons of oil and gas condensate was produced in the first month of 2010.
The increased amount is a result of the start-up of full-scale production on the Yuzhno-Khilchuyu field by the company Naryanmarneftegaz. The company is owned 70 percent by Lukoil and 30 percent by ConocoPhillips.

More than 80 oil and gas fields have so far been explored in the region. The potential resources have been amount to more than 5 billion tons of oil and 500 billion cubic meters of gas.

Amongst the oil and gas companies operating in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug are Rosneft, Lukoil-Komi, Naryanmarneftegaz, Pechoraneft and Zarubezhneft.
