More Olympic medals for Russian North

Swimmer Arkadii Vyachanin today won his second Olympic bronze medal in the Beijing Olympics, while Arkhangelsk swimmer Yevgenii Lagunov won silver in the men’s 4x200 m freestyle relay.

Arkadii Vyachanin clocked in to 1:54.93 in the men’s 200 m backstroke, which is new European record. The race secured him the bronze medal, his second in these games. The final was won by U.S. swimmer Ryan Lochte followed by his countryman Aaron Peirsol, KomiOnline reports.

Meanwhile, also Arkhangelsk Oblast has got an Olympic medal. In Wednesday’s final in the men’s 4x200 m freestyle relay, the Russian team won silver. Part of the team was Yevgenii Lagunov, Rusnord.ru reports.

Arkhangelsk Oblast has four athletes participating in the games.
