More power for federal districts

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak believes the seven Russian federal districts should take on new powers.

Mr. Kozak believes the federal districts should engage not only in the field of politics, but also take on tasks within the social-economic sector. He also believes the federal district representatives should help coordinate the work of federal agencies based in the regions. However the long-serving top official believes the financial crisis will hamper quick reforms in relations between Moscow and the regions, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Vedomosti.
