More Russian tourists to Northern Norway
Despite the economical crises, there was a slight increase in the numbers of Russian tourists visiting the northernmost part of Norway last year.
The counties Nordland, Troms and Finnmark had a one percent increase in the overnight stays by Russians in 2009. Not a very high increase, but taken into fact that the numbers of Russian overnight stays in the rest of Norway and other places in Europe, the figures are still very positive. For Norway as a whole, the numbers of overnight stays by Russians was down 9 percent. Russian tourists are very lucrative for Norwegian tourist companies and hotels; an average Russian spends three times as much per day as a Swede visiting Norway.
