The agreement signed by Murmansk Governor Dmitri Dmitrienko and leader of the Finnmark county council Sjaastad covers a wide field of cooperation, ranging from culture, social projects to business.

–We are ready for cooperation, Governor Dmitrienko said after the signing ceremony in Murmansk today.

Mr. Sjåstad added to BarentsObserver that that the cooperation between the two regions is developing very positively. He maintains that the Russian side was the one which called for a new agreement between the parts.

-We have sometimes felt that we have been running after the Russians trying to convince them about the need for agreements. This time, it was the Russians who took the initiative, Sjåstad said to BarentsObserver.
