Murmansk running out of fuel oil

The main state heat and power company in Murmansk TEKOS threatens to turn off the delivery of hot water and heating. The company’s boiler plants have only six days of supplies left of heating oil.

In a press release TEKOS warns that large parts of Murmansk soon can be left without hot water and heating. The company has outstanding debts of 1.58 billion RUB and no money to buy fuel oil. The largest debtors are municipalities and managing companies.

“If settlements are not performed before the heating season starts, there will not only be forced stoppages in hot water supply, but also in heating”, the press release reads.

TEKOS is with its 13 heaters and 292 km of power lines a key element in the Murmansk regional energy system. A total of 10 towns and municipalities are supplied with heating by the company.
