Murmansk university could get Shtokman training centre

Representatives of the three partner companies in the Shtokman project yesterday met in Murmansk to discuss the training of field specialists. The Murmansk Technical University could become the basis of a new training centre.

Deputy Head of the Sevmorneftegaz company, Mr. Rudolf Ter-Sarkisov, in the meeting highlighted the strategic task of getting enough specialists for the complex project. He proposed to establish a new training centre under the Murmansk Technical University. According to the press centre of the Murmansk city administration, the three Shtokman partners – Gazprom, Total and StatoilHydro – have agreed to elaborate a programme for the training of personnel. City mayor Mikhail Savchenko proposed to the Shtokman consortium to assign the elaboration of the programme to a representative of StatoilHydro. He believes the programme should be based on experiences from the Norwegian towns of Hammerfest and Stavanger.
