New agreement over Prirazlomnoe field

Shipyard Sevmash has signed an agreement with Gazprom subsidiary Sevmorneftegaz, which is to help secure progress in the Prirazlomnoe project in the Pechora Sea.

According to the agreement signed today by Sevmash General Director Nikolay Kalistratov and Sevmorneftegaz director Aleksandr Mandel. The new agreement replaces the former basic project agreement and the several supplementary agreements, Sevmash reports in a press release.

The new agreement is meant to step up efficiency in the project. After several delays, the project deadline is not set to year 2010.

The construction of the Priralomnaya platform has been hampered not only by insufficient financing, but also by a lack of qualified workers. The agreement between Sevmash and Sevmorneftegaz secures higher salaries for project employees. Sevmash in addition intends to hire workers from other specialized organisations, the company confirms.

The Priralomnaya platform currently under construction at Sevmash will be used in the field with the same name in the Pechora Sea. The field will be the first offshore oil field opened in the Russian north. The license to the field is hold by Sevmorneftegaz, a subsidiary of Gazprom.

The agreement comes shortly after both Prime Minister Putin and Gazprom head Aleksey Miller visited Russia’s northern shipbuilder major.
