New helicopters for Finnish border guards
The Finnish Ministry of Finances has given green light to the border guard service’s purchase of new helicopters to use along the border to Russia.
The border guard service will replace its five Augusta AB 412 helicopters with four new ones, the newspaper Österbottens Tidning writes.
It will cost some 60 million EUR to replace the old helicopters. The EU might back the purchase through its External Border Fund.
One possible option for new helicopters is Augusta Westlands AW139, which is being used by the Estonian border guards, the newspaper writes.
