New Kola mine to open in 2012
The Northwest Phosphorous Company will open its new Oleny Ruchey mine on 1 May 2012, company leaders told regional authorities.
The company, a subsidiary of chemical giant Akron, told Murmansk Deputy Governor Oleg Tigunov that the first part of the mining project will be opened no later than 1 May 2012, a press release from the regional administration informs. The first production phase will include an annual minimum of 300,000 tons of ore.
The Oleny Ruchey mine is located near the town of Kirovsk in the central parts of the Kola Peninsula.
