A new four times two meter big war memorial will this summer be erected in the Pechenga cemetery in Murmansk Oblast along with 136 stone plates with names of fallen war heroes.
It is the Pechenga rayon administration which has ordered the new memorial, TV21 reports. Sculptor Aleksandr Arsenyev is the man behind the memorial which depicts four people — a sailor, a pilot, a soldier and a nurse.
The memorial, which is made stone, is four meters long and two meters high. It will be surrounded by 136 stone plates with names of the fallen soldiers in the area. The whole installation is planned erected on the site by 1 June, the TV channel informs.
Located between Kirkenes and Murmansk, the town of Pechenga experienced fierce fighting during 2WW.
