Nordic week in Arkhangelsk
Halldór Ásgrímsson, the Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers will today open a week of seminars and meetings in the Pomor capital.
The Nordic week also marks the 15th anniversary of official cooperation between the Nordic Council of Ministers and Northwest Russia. The first project-office in St. Petersburg was opened in 1995, while the Arkhangelsk Information office was set up in 1998.
More than one thousand projects in many fields have been implemented and almost one million people have participated in various joint Russian-Nordic projects over the last 15 years.
The Nordic Week in Archangelsk features a number of events funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, both for professionals and the general public. A seminar on good governance will take place on 23 November and will be opened by Halldór Ásgrímsson.
The final conference of the Nordic-Russian project to enhance local and regional governments in Northwest Russia will be held on Wednesday November 24th, and will be followed the next day by the round table on municipal development.
The final seminar of the project on social partnership against HIV/AIDs will be held on Friday November 26th. An exhibition of photographs, 20 years of Finnish Architecture, will be on display at the Northern (Arctic) Federal University in Archangelsk.
