Northern Sweden eyes Russian tourism market

The tourism business in Northern Sweden wants more Russian guests. The ice hotel in Jukkasjärvi in Norrbotten county is one of the companies aiming at attracting Russians.

- Russia is an interesting market for us. We have not been working very active towards this market earlier, but now we hope to attract more Russian tourists, the hotel manager told Swedish Television, NRK reports.

This autumn representatives from the ice hotel were in Russia to find partners and make contacts with Russian travel agencies.

Spending a night in an ice hotel or snow hotel has become popular amongst tourists visiting the Barents Region. In Northern Norway, Kirkenes and Alta are two of several places which offer this opportunity to their guests.
