Northwest Russia sends men to South Ossetia
A total of 522 individuals and 120 equipment units are ready to be sent to the troubled region of South Ossetia, emergence situation authorities confirm. Many of them are from Northwest Russia.
The Northwest Russian branch of the federal Ministry of Emergency Situations, confirms that five Russian teams are deployed in the region. Leader of the ministry unit, Mr. Shamsutdin Dagirov last Friday said to journalists that a rotation of manpower is likely to take place in early September.
Then, a team of 522 men and 120 equipment units from Northwest Russia are ready to be sent to the region.
As reported by BarentsObserver last week, also soldiers from Murmansk Oblast are likely to have been involved in fighting in the conflict. According to Murman.ru, a soldier from the region also died in fighting in breakaway region of Abkhasia.
