Nuclear sub becomes building bricks
At the Nerpa Shipyard in Snezhnogorsk, Murmansk Oblast, remains from a discarded Victor class submarine is being made into building bricks.
Polystyrene foam granules that helped to keep the submarine afloat, is mixed with other substances and shaped into ultra-light building bricks. Equipment needed for the process is financed by Great Britain.
The polystyrene foam comes from a nuclear powered Victor class submarine that was scrapped at Nerpa in 2007 and will be sufficient for 5000 bricks.
