Nuclear-powered vessels allowed into Arkhangelsk
The Russian government has added the northern ports of Arkhangelsk and Tiksi to the list of ports allowed visits by nuclear-powered vessels.
The decision will allow the nuclear-powered icebreakers Taimyr and Vaigach, both built for shipping on northern rivers, extended access to northern ports. The port of Arkhangelsk is located along the shallow waters of the Northern Dvina river. Tiksi is in the far east near the Lena River.
