Offers tax concession

Talking to global oil majors in the Siberia town of Salekhard, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday opened for tax concession for capital invested in developing gas deposits.

Major oil and gas companies like Norwegian StatoilHydro, French Total, ExxonMobile, Dutch Shell and others meet in the capital of the Yamal-Nenets region to listen to Putin’s invitation to participate in the development of the huge gas fields on the Yamal Peninsula.

BarentsObserver reported earlier this week that the international oil majors wanted to hear Putin announce tax incentives to companies participating at Yamal.

And the companies’ executives partly got what they wanted. Quoted by RIA Novosti Putin said: - I believe it possible to consider creating a concessional taxation period for the term of repaying capital invested in new gas deposits.

Putin also promised openness and transparency to foreign companies in case of their participation in resource development projects on the Yamal Peninsula, reports Itar-Tass.
