Oil company deprived licenses in Barents Sea
The Russian Agency of Sub-Soil Resources (Rosnedra) has deprived oil company Sintezneftegaz of its two licenses in the Barents Sea.
Head of Rosnedra, Mr. Anatolii Ledovskikh, now confirms that the licenses to the Admiralteyskoe and Pakhtusovskoe fields in the Barents Sea have been deprived the Sintezneftegaz company and transferred to the state. The two projects are both located along the western coast of Novaya Zemlya. Mr. Ledovskikh says that the licenses have been withdrawn following the companys delayed operations in the projects. At the same time he confirms that the licenses now are in state possession and that only the two state-controlled companies Rosneft and Gazprom will be allow to take over operations in the projects, Murman.ru reports with reference to Rbc.ru. Several Russian state officials have on several occasions said that only Rosneft and Gazprom from now on are allowed to engage in drilling on the shelf.
