Four Russian governors have higher salaries than Governor Schwarzenegger of California; one of these is the Governor of Nenets Autonomous Okrug in the Barents Region.

The average wages of a Russian governor is almost 105.000 USD, according to the Russian website Slon.ru. In USA an official of the same rank makes 70-212.000 USD.

In Russia, four regional leaders have higher salaries than California’s Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is the highest-paid American Governor with a salary of a little more than 212.000 USD per year. These are Igor Fedorov of Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Yury Neyelov of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Leonid Polezhayev of Omsk Oblast and Mintimer Shaymiyev of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In USA a governor’s salary cannot be more than 4.4 times higher the average salary in the state he or she is leading. The Governor of Omsk Oblast makes 32.5 times more money than the average wage earner in his region.
