Pechenga Road open all week
The Pechenga Road between Nikel and Murmansk has been closed for foreign cars three days a week for many years. This week Murmansk Oblast Authorities removed this regulation.
For several years there has been a Russian regulation, forbidding all foreign cars to drive on the Pechenga Road between Nikel and Murmansk on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, because of military restrictions. This has been an obstacle for especially Norwegian businessmen and others operating in Northwest Russia.
According to the Norwegian General Consulate in Murmansk, Murmansk Oblast Authorities has changed this regulation so that also foreign vehicles are allowed to travel along the Pechenga Road 24 hours a day, all days of the week. However, the changes only include travelling on the road. It is still prohibited to turn off the main road.
