Putin’s way out of the crisis
In the current world economic crisis, the Russian economy has to lean exclusively on its own capacities, Russian Prime Minister and party leader Vladimir Putin said in today’s United Russia party congress.
The Russian Government will orient its activities towards domestic business, Putin said to his party fellows. He added that a series of meetings are now to be held with the main Russian companies in order to coordinate measures.
At the same time, Mr. Putin underlined that Russia will not be closed for imports and that this will not be an alternative.
-Of course, we will not close the imports and do not intend to do this, however, in today’s conditions, we have to orient ourselves towards our own possibilities, the premier highlighted.
He also underlined that the government’s policy line remains unchanged.
-The financial crisis will not make Russia change its strategic priorities – on the contrary, the current situation will force us to more actively pursue our priorities, Putin said.
The premier also said that the government will allocate an additional 50 billion RUB to the military-industrial complex in order to avoid bankruptcy in the sector. He also said that unemployment benefits will be increased.
-The Russian leadership will do whatever possible to avoid that the country ends up in a collapse like in former years, Putin stressed.
