- Many Russian regions have huge debts to Gazprom, and the debts keep on rising every day, said First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov according to Prime-TASS.
Gazprom will not take any radical measures to withdraw the debt, but those regions that are able to pay, will have to do so, said Zubkov, who is also the Head of the company’s Board of Directors.
In June Gazprom representatives said that the company was hoping that domestic gas prices could reach European levels by 2011. The company increased prices on gas with five percent in the first quarter of 2009.
