”Russia goes for port of Murmansk”

-Russia will develop the ports of Murmansk and Nakhodka, the Russian Minister of Transport said this week.

-We have two ports which lead directly into the [world] ocean – this is the Port of Murmansk which leads right into open sea and Nakhoda in the Far East, Minister Igor Levitin said, the Russian News Service reports, addind that all other Russian ports located either in the Ukraine or in the Baltics lead to straits. Mr. Levitin was last week appointed chairman of the new Management Company of the Murmansk Transport Hub, an enterprise with representatives from the Russian Railways, Rosneft, Rosmorport and the Murmansk regional administration The management company is currently in the process of applying for status as free economic zone, a measure which is expected to significantly help attract investments to the port.
