Russia invites foreign specialists
Russian authorities are ready to open the door for a major influx of foreign experts and offers facilitated migration rules, low taxes and easy residential registration.
The State Duma will this week handle a set of proposed amendments in the law regulating the legal rights of foreigners. Among the amendments are a significant facilitation of immigration regulations, work permits, residential registration and taxes for foreign experts, newspaper Vedomosti reports. The amendments come as President Medvedev pushes ahead with his modernization plans. Part of the plans is the development of a Russian “Silicon Valley” in Skolkovo outside Moscow. The new regulations are expected to come into force 1 January 2011.
