Russia needs a projecting bureau for offshore platforms

General Director of the Sevmash shipyard in Severodvinsk, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Nikolay Kalistratov, suggests establishing a projecting bureau for engineering of offshore platforms.

At the conference “Perspectives for cooperation between Arkhangelsk Oblast and Norway” in Arkhangelsk Januar 22, Kalistratov pointed out that the lack of a bureau in Russia specializing in projecting of offshore drilling platforms is a problem. An example is the building of the ice-strengthened platform “Prirazlomnaya”. The project plans for the platform were altered five times, leading to considerable delays in the completion.

Kalistratov suggests establishing a projecting bureau in Arkhangelsk, as a partnership between shipyards Sevmash and Zvezdochka and the Norwegian company Aker.

In light of the upcoming development of the Shtokman field, projecting of offshore equipment gets even more important.
