Russia to resettle more people from North

Amid a growing need for labour in the Russian North, Russian Minister of Regional Development Dmitrii Kozak says the process of resettling people from the northern parts of the country will be intensified. The problem will be solved by year 2015, he maintains.

Russia has for years had resettlement programmes for people wanting to move from remote northern areas to climatically more friendly areas in the south. However, the money allocated to the programmes have allowed only few families to move south. Now, Minister Kozak says spending on resettlement will be significantly stepped up from year 2010. By year 2015, the problem will be solved, he says, B-port.com reports.
