Russian and NATO top generals to meet in Brussels
Russian and NATO heads of General Staffs will meet in Brussels on January 26 for the first time since the improvement in ties between Russia and the alliance, Russia’s envoy to NATO said on Wednesday.
- Head of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister Nikolay Makarov will participate in the meeting, Russia’s envoy to NATO Dmitry Rogozin said, according to RIA Novosti.

Relations between NATO and Russia were frozen after the armed conflict with Georgia in august 2008, but relations have improved in recent months. In December 2009, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov participated in the first formal Russia-NATO Council meeting since the conflict, as BarentsObserver reported.
