Russian bureaucracy bigger than the Soviet

The number of state officials Russia should be cut in half, leader of the Federal Anti-monopoly Service says.

“There are today more state officials in Russia than there were in the Soviet Union, all Soviet republics included”, Igor Artyemov says.

He argues that the number of officials should be cut in half. At the same time, the remaining employees should get their salaries strongly increased, he maintains.

According to the Artyemov, a major number of state officials get a lion´s share of their incomes not from the state budget but from various business-related activities, Regnum reports.
