Russian gas production further down

Gazprom’s production in February dropped 16 percent year-on-year, information from the Ministry of Energy shows.

Gazprom’s daily gas output last month was also two percent lower than in January, the Moscow Times reports. Analysts say to the newspaper that the production figures are expected to drop further in March. Energy Ministry data showed that Gazprom, the main supplier of gas to the EU, extracted 1,41 billion cubic meters of gas daily in February, down 2 percent from 1,44 bcm a day in January 2009 and 16 percent from 1,67 bcm a year ago.
