Russian NGOs with impact on the state

“Russian NGOs are starting to make an impact on public policy. Slowly, but surely”, head of a Russian government relations and PR company writes in the Moscow Times.

“It has become standard for the West to criticize Russia’s treatment of nongovernmental organizations operating in the country. They are consistently portrayed as victims of government pressure, while the government is seen as unresponsive to society’s concerns”, Mr Vladimir Frolov, president of LEFF Group, a government relations and PR company, writes in the newspaper. Mr. Frolov does not all agree however. After a series of recent meetings with NGO representatives, he is convinced that the organisations already play a substantial role in Russian policy making
