Russian regions mourn with people of Poland

The governors of the Northwest Russian regions have issued statements with condolences with the people of Poland following Saturday’s tragic plane crash.

“All the people of the Kola Peninsula are deeply shocked by the tragic death of the state leadership of Poland in the plane catastrophe by Smolensk”, Murmansk Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko writes in a telegram sent to the Polish Polonia Culture Society in Russia. “We northerners express condolences with the whole Polish people, both in the state of Poland and beyond”, the telegram reads.

Arkhangelsk Governor Ilya Mikhalchuk says that “this sorrow has no state borders” and that “the people of Arkhangelsk mourns together with you”.

Arkhangelsk Oblast is one of many Russian regions, which has a branch of the Polonia Culture Society.

Also Governor of the Komi Republic, Vyacheslav Gaizer, has issued official condolences with Poland.
