Russian shelf for the development of Russia

Russia must take coordinated measures to secure the role of domestic companies in the development of the shelf, Minister Yuri Trutnev says in an interview to Kommersant. He believes the shelf could give a boost to the development of the whole country.

Asked by newspaper Kommersant, Minister of Natural Resources Yuri Trutnev says the Russian state companies Gazprom and Rosneft should buy equipment and installations from Russian companies, and not from abroad. -To let Gazprom and Rosneft order all equipment from abroad is in my opinion a very bad solution, because we lose the advantages which we can get from working on the shelf, Mr. Trutnev says. -The other alternative is to create a system of measures which enables us to ourselves to build the platforms and platform equipment, he adds. The minister also maintains that measures will be taken to facilitate smooth geological exploration. He highlights that the current 10-year time frame in drilling licenses must be considerably cut. -It must be absolutely clear by which year the field will be explored and by which year it will enter production, Mr. Trutnev stresses
