Russian soldiers told to stay away from Facebook
Soldiers in the Russian border guard service have been told not to use the Russian version of Facebook, the vkontakte.ru website. The FSB fears that sensitive information about the border services might be spread through the popular website.
A warning was in late March sent out by the Russian Security Service to border guards in Murmansk Oblast, Regnum.ru reports. The FSB, which is in charge of the border guard service, fears that soldiers might leave sensitive information on the contact site and that people with bad intentions might abuse it. A growing number of soldiers have registered at the website, which has become the main Russian answer to Facebook.
