Russian state fishery enterprise in the making
Head of the Russian State Committee of Fisheries confirms that the government in the near future will approve the establishment of a new state fishery corporation.
The new enterprise named the Rosrybflot will be based on the Arkhangelsk Trawler Fleet, the last remaining state-owned fishery company in the country. According to Andrey Krainy, the new company will help boost Russian fish catch with almost 30 percent to five million tons per year. The Rosrybflot will have a fleet of 24 vessels, B-port.com reports. However, it is expected that the companys fleet will increase significantly over the next years. Mr. Krainy has himself indicated that the state might confiscate vessels which have been involved in serious fishery violations. The State Committee of Fisheries believes that the formation of the new company will help ease fishery bureaucracy, modernize the Russia trawler fleet and facilitate joint state initiatives in the sector.
