Russian unemployment down

200,000 less people are registered jobless today than four months ago.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin presented the new unemployment numbers at a meeting of the government’s presidium on Thursday, reports Itar-Tass.

The number of unemployed in Russia is still great, some 2,1 million people are registered without jobs.

Putin called for measures to assist those losing their jobs. Retraining courses, a chance to join public jobs or assistance to start own business, were some of the tasks Putin wanted to fight unemployment.
