Russian WTO membership getting closer
Head negotiator in Russias talks on WTO membership, Maxim Medvedkov, says he is confident that Russia will become member of the trade club by the end of this year.
According to the official, Russia and the United States will hold WTO talks in Washington on Friday that will be chaired by Russian Vice Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin and US Trade Representative Susan Schwab. Russia is ready to join the World Trade Organisation in 2008, Russian President-elect Dmitry Medvedev said earlier. -We are really ready for joining the WTO, we are quite capable of completing this process within this year, he said at a meeting with representatives of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
