Russian-Swedish cooperation in the Baltic Sea
Russia and Sweden have signed an agreement on cooperation on search and rescue in the Baltic Sea.
Russian Minister for Transport Igor Levitin and Swedish Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Åsa Torstensson recently signed the agreement in Moscow, Voyenno-promyshlenny Kuryerreports.
The agreement concerns naval and aerial search and rescue in territorial waters, inland waters, on land territory and in the airspace above them and is aimed at making such operations faster and more efficient.
- This is an extremely important cooperation that could save many lives, said Åsa Torstensson according to Swedish Radio. Sweden already has similar agreements with other countries in the area.
