Sevmash to establish offshore petro subsidiary
The huge naval yard in Severodvinsk will create the SevmashShelf subsidiary.
The subsidiary will work with oil- and gas installations, like the Shtokman field in the Barents Sea, reports the portal of Sevmash.
Sevmash, mainly known for building Russia’s large fleet of nuclear powered submarines, has over the last decade also work on the construction of the platform to be taken info use at the Prirazlomnoye oil field in the eastern part of the Barents Sea. The platform will be towed to the oil-field next June. Prirazlomnoye is the first offshore oil-field in the Russian part of the Barents Sea to start production.

This week, officials from Sevmash and GazpromNeft met in Severodvinsk to review the construction of the platform. In November, the final work will be over and then the platform will be towed to Murmansk for final preparations.
